“Azimuth” is a society of travelers and lovers of nature founded in 1967 by group of enthusiasts in small Russain town Pushchino. Today the society has a long and proud history. Our team of mountaineers, kayakers and skiers has undertaken numerous journeys in the most remote places of Russia. “Azimuth” club-house was decorated with the skill and labor of our fellow friends to become one of the places Pushchino is proud of. Today “Azimuth” gathers in its walls three generations of travelers, from stern grey-haired men to restless and joyful children. Every year “Azimut” undertakes new trips – ski-tours in winter, kayaking in spring, mountaineering, cycling and cave-exploring in summer and autumn. In the club-house we prepare our equipment and outfit, organize get-togethers where travelers may share their experience and impressions, demonstrate their photos and videos and discuss plans for future trips, and, of course, we hold our favorite traditional tea-parties. Azimuth breathes with the air of warm relationship. Wooden walls are marked with signatures and inscriptions of our many guests from Russia and abroad. These walls, which are also covered with ancient things and crockery found in the wild, keep in memory cheerful skits, captivating travel-stories told at our traditional meeting “thursdays”, and even weddings (more then 20!). People come here like they come to their dear home, where everything is done by their own hands during so many years.
In spite of suffering a tremendous blow when town administration seized the club-house (it was sold out as an apartment), “Azimut” was able to hold out. We have reestablished and reconstructed our club-house, and as once in 1967 this was again done by enthusiasts, young and old. Ruinous basement was turned into a nice and cozy place. Carefully kept wooden walls were reinstalled and the main hall appeared almost in its initial look.
One year later this new club-house was again seized by town administration (becoming a part of new hotel). Society’s meetings are now being held at Pushchino Youth Center. Administration has allocated new premises for “Azimuth”. This time it is a garage cargo-handling facility which will take a lot of time and effort to rebuild. “Azimut” has already started reconstruction work and relocated part of its belongings and equipment into a new place.
“Azimuth” society is a common cultural property of Pushchino and a living memory of its founders. Even now “Azimuth” is a museum of first inhabitants of the town, of their way of life, interests, work, creativity and spirit. But unlike a museum, “Azimuth” is a unique and striving society, a team of people who love their land and have strength to traverse wilderness to see the beauty of distant snow-capped peaks and foaming rivers.

Отличный (душевный) текст! По просьбе Никиты я немного отредактировал (см. ниже), но вы смотрите сами. По мелочам... Вроде бы правильно - "travelers", а не "travellers". :) Так же, надо определиться с английским названием клуба - Azimut или Azimuth? Azimuth - правильно с грамматической точки зрения, но, с другой стороны, произношение другое. И в адресе сайта как бы azimut.

Кстати, аналогичные клубы в Америке называют скорее "outing club" (http://poc.purdue.org/), но society звучит круче. :)

Надо вот что решить. В первой версии информация о клубе идет в настоящем времени. В исправленной версии переделано на прошедшее время. Это понятно, старого клуба сейчас нет. Однако я специально даже в русскоязычной версии оставил настоящее время (и только в последних абзацах упомянуто изъятие помещения). Мне кажется, предоставление информации о клубе в прошедшем времени превращает его в экспонат, а не в действующий клуб. Тем более что предложение Every year “Azimuth” undertook (undertakes) new trips – ski-tours in winter, kayaking in spring, mountaineering, cycling and cave-exploring in summer and autumn можно применить только к сегодняшнему клубу (с лыжными, велосипедными, спелео походами раньше было туго). Вся деятельность продолжается, и used to применимо только к самому помещению, а клуб как таковой со всеми четвергами, чаепитиями, подготовкой снаряжения продолжает действовать. Даже "традиционный майский поход" и тот есть.
Предлагаю оставить настоящее время. Как на это смотрите?

Да, мы по факту outing club, но мне тоже больше нравится "общество", вроде как солидней. Четверги с чаепитиями, куча "стариков", история в 40 лет - это уже похоже и на society
И нам еще не хватает backpacking, так что надо вот так - Every year “Azimuth” undertook (undertakes) new trips – ski-tours in winter, kayaking in spring, mountaineering, cycling, caving and backpacking in summer and autumn.
